By the decision No 760/2009 of the City Council of Kavala, the “Municipal Public Benefit Organisation of Kavala” was created with the designation Dimofelia and the conversion of “Municipal Development Enterprise of Kavala (DANEK)” to “Public Benefit Corporation of Kavala (DIMOFELIA) was approved by the General’s Secretary of the Region of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace decision No 11926/09/09.02.2010, by adjusting its statutory objectives to forecast the provisions of Article 254 of Law No 3463/2006 (Code of Municipalities and Communities), published in the Government Gazette B’ issue 182/25.02.2010, release date 01/03/2010.
Dimofelia is the result of the conversion of D.A.N.E.K which was created from the merging of three subsistent municipal enterprises: the Municipal Market of Kavala (D.A.K), the Municipal Enterprise of Tourism and Development (D.E.T.A.K) and the Municipal Enterprise of Culture and Athletics of the Youth of Kavala (D.E.P.A.N.E.K).
