Historical-Literary Archive of Kavala

It operates with its current legal status since 1996.

Its aims are:

• to present its rich historical archives of specialised scholars
• to offer its rich and specialised historical library to scholars,
• to study and present its rich photography archives,
• to connect with other similar Archives in Greece and other countries, and
• the continuous enrichment and organisation of the archival material that collected over the years and continues to do so.

The library of I.L.A.K contains more than 30,000 books, journals and newspapers from the 16th century until today. It focuses on the Northern Greece and it is supported by the AVEKT library program. Because of the rarity of the books, it does not operate as a lending library. One can read the books he wants on site, as well as take some photocopies for free.
